Terry's Chocolate Orange Queen Replaced

chocolate orange

TV comic Dawn French has been let go as the Spokesperson of Terry's Chocolate Orange.
The Vicar Of Dibley actress has advertised Terry's Chocolate Orange in television commercials since 1997, using the catchphrase: "It's not Terry's, it's mine".

Kraft Foods, owners of the brand, recently announced that a new advertising push is to be launched in 11/07 that will not feature French.

Terry's marketing manager Stephanie Lea said: "We are grateful to Dawn for the major impact she has had on our advertising and for the value that she has added over the last ten years. After such a long partnership we feel that the campaign has run its course and we are in the process of developing different work. It has been a difficult decision to end the partnership with Dawn and we would like to extend our sincere thanks and wish her continued success in her fabulous career."

Trade journal Marketing said: "Insiders have speculated that French was no longer presenting the right image for the company in the current climate of concerns over obesity and health."
Maybe Dawn has been pounding those chocolate oranges a little too much.

Dark Chocolate Best for Health

dark chocolate

For all that find pleasure in smoking, chances are cigarettes aren't your only vice. Lurking in the dark recesses of your indulgences may lie other things: alcohol, coffee, pizza with extra cheese, or even chocolate. Well, chocolate has some valuable health points: it's not only excellent for your taste buds but may also be beneficial for your health.

When it comes to health, dark chocolate seems to be the better of the chocolates; it has the potential to do the most good. This is because it contains the most cocoa, which is a great source of flavonoids (metabolites that may induce processes that fight cancer), and epicatechin (metabolites that help reduce the risk of heart attack, cancer, diabetes, and stroke). Dark chocolate is also high in antioxidants.

The potential health benefits of chocolate not only make you feel better about consuming it, but they also have the potential to make you feel better from your mood's point of view. Consuming chocolate helps your brain produce serotonin, which creates a sense of contentment. For this reason, chocolate has gotten the well-deserved label of a "comfort food."

Chocoholics' Brains React Differently to Chocolate

Researchers in the United Kingdom have found out that chocoholics' brains react to chocolate as drug addicts' do to drugs.

The researchers also discovered that areas of the brain associated with reward were stimulated just by the sight of chocolate.

This led the scientists to suggest individuals may be able to lose weight by avoiding the sight of foods they crave.

Oxford University's Prof Edmund Rolls and Ciara McCabe conducted functional magnetic resonance imaging on the brains of 8 chocoholics and 8 controls.

The subjects were shown images of chocolate and then tasted liquid chocolate while having fMRI scans.

Among the chocoholics, greater stimulation was seen in the areas of the brain associated with pleasurable sensations, habit-forming behaviour and drug addiction.

"If you want to limit (food) intake, you could limit the extent to which you are exposed to the combination of sight and taste," Prof Rolls said. "For example, you could eat in the dark."
